Lifestyle Plans
Fully customized for each individual
Life style plays a critical role in staying healthy and recovering from a health issue. As lifestyle choices & limits are different for individuals, we recommend lifestyle plans which are best suited for an individual.
Our doctors at Reviving Rituals suggest and create personalized lifestyle plans for individuals which help them lead healthy lives with Ayurveda.
Ayurveda offers several lifestyle recommendations including below:
Dincharya (Daily Routine)
Wake up early in the morning, before sunrise: "Uttishthata jagrata prapya varannibodhata" (Rigveda 1.48.10). It means "Arise, awake, and attain knowledge from the wise."
Perform self-care practices such as tongue scraping, oil pulling, and bathing to cleanse the body and senses.
Engage in meditation or prayer to calm the mind and set a positive tone for the day.
Ahara (Diet)
Eat fresh, seasonal, and organic foods that are suitable for your body type (dosha). Emphasize a plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.
Practice mindful eating, chewing your food thoroughly, and eating in a calm and peaceful environment: "Bhojana tyaktva varjayet vyasane" (Ashtanga Hridaya 1.55). It means "One should avoid eating during a state of anxiety."
Avoid processed foods, excessive sugar, and unhealthy fats.
Dinacharya (Seasonal Routine)
Adjust your lifestyle according to the changing seasons. During winter, keep warm, eat nourishing foods, and engage in gentle exercises. During summer, stay cool, hydrate well, and favor light and cooling foods.
Observe Ritucharya (seasonal regimen) to maintain balance and harmony with nature: "Sharad hemanta shishir vasantham cha" (Charaka Samhita Vimana Sthana 6.11). It means "One should observe the regimen for autumn, winter, spring, and summer."
Vyayama (Exercise)
Engage in regular physical activity that suits your constitution. Options include yoga, walking, swimming, and gentle stretching exercises.
Avoid excessive or strenuous exercise that may cause strain or imbalance.
Nidra (Sleep)
Maintain a consistent sleep schedule and ensure you get adequate restful sleep each night.
Create a calming bedtime routine, such as reading, listening to soothing music, or practicing relaxation techniques.
"Yatrasupto na bhayam tatra vishramah" (Charaka Samhita Vimana Sthana 8.32). This shloka means "One should find rest where there is no fear during sleep."
Sadvritta (Ethical Conduct)
Cultivate virtues such as truthfulness, compassion, gratitude, and moderation in all aspects of life.
Practice selfless service (seva) and contribute to the well-being of others: "Paropakaraya punyaya, papaya parapeedanam" (Rigveda 5.46.2). It means "It is virtuous to help others and sinful to harm."
Remember, Ayurveda emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual, so it is advisable to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to receive personalized recommendations based on your specific needs and constitution. By embracing these Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations, you can foster a harmonious balance between your body, mind, and spirit, promoting overall health and well-being.
